If there were a beginning of something there has to be and end of it, right? The end of 'something' has always been near, but is THE end really as near as some people would like for us to believe? Maybe, maybe not. After 25 years on this journey of ever growing to live a more self-sustained and prepared life - I've heard various cries of the 'end' being near. Some of which were out of sheer desire to motivate, while others were out of selfish ambition to motivate others to purchase a particular product or adhere to a specific 'philosophy'. My view is that there will not be a definitive 'end' to the world as we know it (TEOTWAWKI). Not one prior to the return of Messiah anyway. But rather a shift in priorities that will cause life choices to change. Haven't you seen that in your life already with the increase of gas prices, utility prices and food prices? You choose to drive less often or handle multiple tasks when you do; you may choose to open windows more rather than run the air conditioner or perhaps have tried to cut your grocery bill in order to keep in back into check where it was months ago. No. I do not believe 'the end is near'. Not near as in this (Mayan) calendar year - but rather the end of many creature comforts and self serving time consumers that will fall to the wayside of more meaningful and life-sustaining priorities. That may not be a bad thing to see come to an end. Actually, "the end" may be just the beginning of the world as it should be.

The Invasive Species Order was signed as an Executive Order in 1999 by then President Clinton. The recent muscle behind the Order has been exercised by the Department of Natural Resources far more frequently under the current administration. While in affect an Executive Order designed to squelch the potential spread of swine flu, mad cow disease and the avian (bird flu) virus - in recent years the broadened focus of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has gone into small private farms and co-ops to impose the Invasive Species Order (INS) upon civilians in a SWAT raid fashion. One of the recent raids of the DNA was upon Ron McKendrick of Renegade Ranch in Cheboygan County, Michigan. He faced a suit for not obeying the ISO–however, by the time of the raid on Saturday, he’d never received any paperwork informing him of any court action. The DNR agents reportedly had conducted armed interrogation of his customer base and a 75-year-old senior citizen employee. They had staked out his farm for several days. DNR officials had obtained a temporary restraining order to enter the property with intent to investigate 'criminal activity'. The most recent raid was upon the small pig farm of Dave Tuxberry. In order to avoid arrest on felony charges, Dave was forced to shoot all his own pigs before DNR agents arrived. The search warrant he was served was after having been staked out for days by the local authorities was based on the potential (the POTENTIAL) that one of his hogs would get loose. He was ordered to dispatch of his entire stock, piglets to sows, to avoid arrest. He reports that after slaughtering his hogs (and livelihood) the DNA remarked at how secure his fencing was. The raids upon co-ops who's members agreeably shared, and used raw milk and other natural products are up in record number. Even in states where raw milk is considered legal. Each time the governmental system is exercised against the rights of the citizens, I am reminded of the opening and closing lines of Lincoln's Gettysburg Address: Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. ..... ....that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth. But is it? Perishing?

Today I had the opportunity once again to speak with someone who has felt all alone in this Preparedness Journey. For years it has felt like it has just been their family preparing, thinking they were weird and keeping quiet about preparing. This is yet, another heart-breaking story that is similar to several that I hear a week: Preparedness minded people feeling all alone and isolated. Each wanting desperately to connect with others who are walking the same journey. The camaraderie that is so vital to the survival of a society is lacking every where, but especially in those who lead a lifestyle of Preparedness. Gone are the days when in the community when the butcher knew the blacksmith and the blacksmith dealt with the miller and the local general store carried mostly local items and produce. As a society we have lost that sense of community. We don't know how to regain something that was lost as cities grew and hustle and bustle became the norm, because many of these small, self sustaining communities were lost before many of us were born. In the world of preparedness, community is VITAL to our future survival. No man is an island. No prepper has all bases covered. No one should walk this journey feeling alone. This speaks to what the Lord has laid on my husband's heart years ago and we here at Grain Storehouse & Your Preparation Station want to help combat that feeling. We are building a community. We are joining together a community of people who live in all parts of the country, and perhaps through out the globe who are preparing for 'things to change'. It starts by subscribing to our newsletter. We will soon have area groups and gathers to announce. This will be done with the utmost of discretion and care in order to protect all involved. It is of no benefit for Preparedness minded people to continue to hide and operate as if we are the only ones feeling the need to prepare. It is not mentally, emotionally or spiritually healthy. In the changed future ahead, it also may be of benefit to your physical well-being to have the community connections we should be building right now.
