  • Place about three inches of grain on the bottom of the Mylar bag that is inside a plastic bucket.

  • Then place a three-inch square of dry ice on top of the food that you just poured in.

While I haven’t tried the dry ice method myself, I just received an email today with a testimony of someone who had wheat stored since 1970 that was sealed/stored using the dry ice method.

How effective in hot places and how long would it last ?

    • February 19, 2010

      This is a great question!
It is somewhat mis-leading to think of dry ice….
The dry ice simply causes a vacuum – not keep it cold.

Grains and dried beans need to be stored at no higher than 80 degrees F – preferably around 70.
