The Invasive Species Order was signed as an Executive Order in 1999 by then President Clinton. The recent muscle behind the Order has been exercised by the Department of Natural Resources far more frequently under the current administration.  While in affect an Executive Order designed to squelch the potential spread of swine flu, mad cow disease and the avian (bird flu) virus – in recent years the broadened focus of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has gone into small private farms and co-ops to impose the Invasive Species Order (INS) upon civilians in a SWAT raid fashion. One of […]

Without getting overly spiritual and heading down the path of in Whom our security should lie and Who knows the end of the book while we’re still acting out the chapters here on earth…the topic of “security” has become a volatile one at best here in the tangible world. Most especially it is a volatile topic in America. To top off the state of affairs that plague America the past few years – many of us have suffered a great sense of the lack of Security, even while government tries to reach in and do more – we are less […]

A little venting while on my soap box!

Last Saturday, November 5ht on Your Preparation Station I just had to get a few things out in the open about the preparedness movement! Some things have been irking me and it was just time for this hostess to SOAP BOX a tad! Seriously, of course I have concerns with society, but my concerns with the preparedness movement are that  signs are beginning to show that there are some folks in the movement that are acting out of motives that are not helpful TO the movement.  I’m concerned with how we as preppers are labeled and what we might be […]

To get prepared, get fear under control.

The fact is that most of us have never chosen wisely reacting out of  fear. Chaos, emergencies, and emotional instability often force us into feeling that we  have to make decisions immediately and often on only partial information and even worse, on little if no faith. Fear can be a motivator, but it can also be a jailer or a […]

Learning Survival Skills, Techniques and Planning

By Donna Miller Most people don’t even give survival a second thought. To many survival means having air conditioning and cable TV. But what is real survival and what techniques are needed to know or skills and planning are involved if one were to have to survive, say without shelter or a grocery store close by? Potentially the list of survival skills could be endless but the top category that I see would be to find what is right for your surroundings and climate. If you are above a certain elevation only certain crops are specific to your area. If […]
