To get prepared, get fear under control.

Author: Donna Miller There is a great difference that rearranging that subject line above would make.  It could read: “To get fear under control, get prepared.” However, that is not exactly how I feel the true prepared lifestyle actually works. The fact is that most of us have never chosen wisely reacting out of  fear. Chaos, emergencies, and emotional instability often force us into feeling that we  have to make decisions immediately and often on only partial information and even worse, on little if no faith. Fear can be a motivator, but it can also be a jailer or a […]

What’s Wrong with a Typical Storage Food List?

I got an email the other day from a loving and well meaning friend who was sharing how to buy storage food cheaply over time. It was a wonderful gesture and right in line with the need to prepare. Honestly, though, it got me thinking and wondering what’s wrong with the typical food storage list. The principle was actually perfect…to buy a little each week and store it. Within a year you would have enough for two people to survive on for another year. This is a great way of not breaking the bank all at once and crushing the […]

Water, water everywhere nor any a drop to drink.

This line from the poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner rings more true when thinking of surviving difficult times. As we’ve stated before in at least one email that has gone out to everyone who subscribes, water is more VITAL than food when surviving is the issue. A human body can last at least 40 days without food, but begins to shut down all vital organs in less than 3 days of no water. After the 3 day period, with little to no water, the damage is nearly irreversible. The damage begins that early and the body begins dying. […]

It all sounds nice and good to say ‘Build a Long-Term Workable Pantry” but if you don’t know where to get the tools to do so, it can be a bit frustrating. Our hope is to give you some realistic options to choose from. We’ve touched on how to go about it and some steps to take toward building that pantry, and your new sets of back to basics skills… but now we want to focus on where to GET items you may need. Some people have ample room and can have storage that looks similar to this: But more […]
