To buy gold or buy food.
We are supporters of a certain Preparedness Forum that someone posted a question that went something like this: I hear a lot about having money and precious metals on hand for the uncertain future. Wouldn’t an investment not be better spent now in a different way? Canned peas that cost currently cost $.78 might be $7.80 in our economic future. I would personally rather have food, water and toilet paper than paper money, coins or even gold and silver. The foundation for asking this question is the current economy and trends. The question is very legitimate as many of […]
Encouraging preparedness…
Just when we’re feeling overwhelmed with what it is we feel called to do (share preparedness living and encourage others) and we’re struggling with feeling like square pegs in the round holes of society – it’s just like our Father to send an encouraging word OUR way! The following note, from someone I hope to have the honor of meeting face to face one day, was such a breath of fresh air and has put more wind in our sails to press on in our sharing. Water, water everywhere nor any a drop to drink.
This line from the poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner rings more true when thinking of surviving difficult times. As we’ve stated before in at least one email that has gone out to everyone who subscribes, water is more VITAL than food when surviving is the issue. A human body can last at least 40 days without food, but begins to shut down all vital organs in less than 3 days of no water. After the 3 day period, with little to no water, the damage is nearly irreversible. The damage begins that early and the body begins dying. […]
What is preparation or prepping? A brief breakdown.
What does it mean to ‘Be prepared’? Of course it used to be the Boy Scout Motto (maybe it still is, but I’m not a Boy Scout). Also, what is this new word “prepping”? Isn’t that what doctors do prior to surgery? Well, both of these questions lead to the need of explaining exactly what preparation or prepping actually is. It is a little easier to breakdown the things that preparation, prepping or living the preparedness lifestyle actually include rather than saying what it is or isn’t because it looks different for every family. Some things that it should NOT […]
Preparation Step 9 – Water
Preparation step 9 actually has the clout to be the number 10 step because of its importance. For now, it is tied with number 10 due to the fact that the last topic is the most lengthy. That being said, water is one of the MOST essential elements to preparedness. We’ve been used to turning on the faucet and getting water when we need it. We are accustomed to washing clothes and dishes at virtually a push of a button or two. What a blessing indoor plumbing is…but how do you prepare to be without it? Here are some ideas […]
